Cricket season in Northern California starts mid-April and lasts into the first week of November. Teams in each division play 16 games each, 8 at home and 8 away. Immediately following the League Season the Annual Knock-out Championships start.
6th Annual NCCA 6-a-Side Cricket Tournament Rules and Regulations 1.0
Tournament 1.1
The 'Tournament' will be
played at Marin Cricket ground and it will be played on a double
elimination basis. Hence every team will get to play at least 2 games each. The
teams who survive the first round will compete for the main trophy (Henceforth
known as The Cup) and the teams who lose in the first round will then compete for a
secondary trophy. (Henceforth known as The Plate) 1.2
The games will be played on
a knock out basis and will be comprised of 5 overs per side. 1.3
An entry fee of $80 shall be paid by every team who wishes to
participate, This money will pay for the cost of the ground, various trophies,
special Six a Side score-sheets and miscellaneous expenses. 1.4
A registration form stating
the names of no more than 8 players will be required by 9:30 AM on the morning
of July 5. 1.5
Each Team shall provide a
set of 6, NCCA approved, reasonably old balls (30-45 overs bowled). The bowling
team will use one of the balls in this set. 1.6
Drinks will be provided by
the Tournament Organizers. There will be enough time between games that teams
will be responsible for their own lunch and/or Tea 1.7
The tournament will be
governed by the tournament committee; The tournament committee shall be the
sole judge to decide on any matters that require arbitration and their decision
will be final. 1.8
Two NCCA qualified umpire
shall be appointed to officiate the matches of the tournament. From time to time they will be assisted by Player
umpires. 1.9
The tournament shall start
at 10:00 AM on Saturday July 5, 2003. Participating teams must be at the
ground by 9:30 A.M. 2.0
Teams 2.1
There will be a maximum of
12 teams based on first come first served basis. 2.2
Each Team will be made up of
six of their eight players. Each team
shall nominate a Captain who would be responsible for tossing and setting the
field during a match. The captain shall
also be responsible for good conduct and for compliance to the rules of the
tournament. 2.3
Each team shall nominate a
wicket-keeper, who shall not bowl. 2.4
While a match is in
progress, the teams that are scheduled to play next shall toss and get ready to
play the next match. To ensure continuos play throughout the day one of the
teams from the following match will pad up and be ready to start their game as
soon as the previous innings is finished. For example. Team A bats first and
instead of team B batting next, as in a normal game, Team C will bat against
Team D. After the completion of those two innings Team B will bat and complete
the first game and then Team D will bat and complete the 2nd game.
This format will continue throughout the day except for the two finals which
will be played as normal. 2.5
While playing a match or
otherwise, if a team is not able to complete the allotted number of overs either
during batting or bowling, the team shall be considered to have forfeited the
game. 3.0 Games 3.1 If a complete team fails to report to a match 10 minutes before
scheduled time, the team will forfeit the game. 3.2
Each 6 will earn a bonus of
4 runs 3.3
A
batsman will have to retire when he has made 30 runs. The trick will be to
score 29 and then make a ten. 4.0
Winners 4.1
In a match, the team that
has scored the most number of runs will be declared a winner. 4.2
If both the teams have
scored the same number of runs in the allocated number of overs, then the side
which has lost the lesser number of wickets will be declared the winner. 4.3
If both the teams are still tied, then the spin of a coin will
decide the winner. 4.4
If the match is abandoned
for any reason (like bad weather, etc) and the side batting second has not had
the chance of batting for at least two overs, then the winner will be decided
by the spin of coin. 4.5
In cases where the match is
tied based on the aggregate runs, the winner will be team which has lost the
lesser number of wickets. If the match
is still tied, then the winner will be decided by the spin of a coin. 5.0
No balls and Wides 5.1
Wides and no balls will be called in
accordance with the NCCA standing rules. 5.2
The batting side shall be
awarded 4 runs for each No ball or Wide. |
