Central Valley Cricket Club officially came into existence around the end of 1966. Before this, there existed another club in Fresno (Central Valley) called Fresno Cricket Club (FCC). FCC was in A division of the Northern California Cricket League. After FCC's ground was taken over by the University, it ceased to exist around 1992 only to be revived in 1996 by few cricket lovers who had played this game during their college days in the Indian subcontinent.

First, few guys started playing cricket with tennis ball and later, others joined the group. Few members in the group started talking about having a regular team in Fresno. With the help and support of few doctors, in particular, Dr. Venu Gopal, current President of the CVCC and Dr. Manthani Reddy, Captain of CVCC, this team could get a ground in Fresno-Clovis area. This is a beautiful ground, with astro-turf pitch, is considered one of the best in Northern California

Initially, this team played quite a few friendly matches with the Bay area and Los Angeles teams. Last summer, it was decided to formally inaugurate the club by hosting friendly matches with the best teams from both Northern and Southern California. It was also an occasion to honor the visiting captain of the Sri Lankan team, current world champions, Mr. Arjuna Ranatunga. He played for the CVCC in the friendly games.

As of now, CVCC has 17 regular players representing countries from the Indian sub-continent and West-Indies. This year, CVCC has entered the Northern California League and is playing matches in "B" division.

We must acknowledge the constant support and encouragement from Mr. Abid Ali, former test cricketer from India, who also played for FCC for a while.
