President - Laks Sampath

Like any normal child growing up in Cricket crazy India, Laks started playing cricket early in his life. After his high school days, Cricket had to take a back seat to education. All along the passion for Cricket never faded. As one of the original members of the Santa Clara Cricket Club, Laks has been playing cricket in the Northern California league since 1987. He came to the US from India in 1981 and did his graduate work at Univ. of Texas at Arlington.

In the past he has been the President of Santa Clara Cricket Club and has captained the SCCC B in the B-Division. Even while working full time and pursuing an MBA at Santa Clara University, Laks has been active on the cricket scene. He has been on the Board of Directors since 1991 and served as the Treasurer of the Association between 1993 and 1999. He currently serves in the USACA Board as the Regional Director for the North West Region.

He works at Sun Power & Geothermal Energy as Enginering Manager and lives with his wife, Vanitha, nine-year-old daughter, Maya, and twelve-year-old Beau, the Golden Retriever, in Corte Madera, California.

Vice President - Anupam Vijay Singh (AV)

In 1997, a couple of weeks of tennis ball cricket on a baseball diamond convinced AV that it was much worse than the limited amount of school cricket he had played back in India. Teaming up with Harmeek Bedi, Sudipto Roychowdhuri and others, AV formed the Foster City Cricket Club (FC3) with the aim of playing some 'serious' cricket. In time, FC3 merged with the Caribbean Cricket Club.

Since early childhood, lack of cricketing talent has compelled AV to appreciate the administrative aspects of running cricket clubs and associations. Apart from continuing his (eternal) struggle to improve his batting average, Anupam has decided to take up the responsibilities of VP, NCCA to help in the areas of fund raising, tournament organization and the 100 year search for a cricketing arena for the NCCA in the Bay Area.

Anupam lives with his wife, Radhika, in Alameda, California and in his spare time, develops software for Sybase, Inc.
