Vice President - Anupam Singh (AV) |
| |
|
In 1997, a couple of weeks of tennis ball cricket on a baseball diamond convinced AV that it was much worse than the limited amount of school cricket he had played back in India. Teaming up with Harmeek Bedi, Sudipto Roychowdhuri and others, AV formed the Foster City Cricket Club (FC3) with the aim of playing some 'serious' cricket. In time, FC3 merged with the Caribbean Cricket Club.
Since early childhood, lack of cricketing talent has compelled AV to appreciate the administrative aspects of running cricket clubs and associations. Apart from continuing his (eternal) struggle to improve his batting average, Anupam has decided to take up the responsibilities of VP, NCCA to help in the areas of fund raising, tournament organization and the 100 year search for a cricketing arena for the NCCA in the Bay Area.
Anupam lives with his wife, Radhika, in Alameda, California and in his spare time, develops software for Sybase, Inc.

A Div Match Secretary - Alan Weedy |
| |
|
Rumors to the contrary, not withstanding, Alan is not one of the founder members of the Golden Gate Cricket Club (established in 1908). He has, however, been playing for them since 1972 and he vows to keep playing until he drops!!
Alan learned his cricket with the Morpeth Cricket Club in the North of England and emigrated to Canada in 1958. He spent the next 10 years playing for the Verdun Cricket Club in Montreal and represented the winning Quebec team at the Canadian Provincial tournament held in Ottawa, in 1967. He moved to NYC in 1969 and played for Staten Island Cricket Club until moving to Northern California in late 1971. Alan represented Northern California several times during the 1970's and early 80's and he won the "Man of the Match" award in the 1978 Raisinland Trophy game. This secured him a nomination to the USA squad for the I.C.C. trophy held in England in 1979. Another of Alan's proudest moments in local cricket was his dismissal of Alan Border during the visit of the Queensland Cricketers Club in 1981. He has always been a very active members of the GGCC either as Captain, President or Secretary and he has served as the Association's Match Secretary since 1976. Alan lives, with his lovely wife Kiyo, in San Francisco.
